Transferring your clients account to CI Direct Investing is easy. Our team is here to help you with the paperwork to ensure that all the information is correct. To get started:
1. Send us a recent statement of the account your client wants to transfer to [email protected]. Please ensure that the statement includes the:
- Institution name
- Account number
- Account type
- Your client's name
- Your client's address, and
- Issued in the last 6 months
2. Our client services team will fill out the required forms and prepare them for client signature.
3. We will send the documents to your client for e-signature via DocuSign*. You will be cc'd on the email to notify you that this has been sent to your client. It's important to note here that there are some institutions that will not accept e-signatures. Please see below for further actions
4. Your client e-signs the document. The signed documents are forwarded to CI Direct Investing and CI Investment Services for processing. You will be cc'd again once the client signs so you know it is pending.
5. Transfers typically take between 2 - 5 weeks to process depending on the relinquishing institution. Once the cheque has arrived, we will send an email to let you know the funds have been deposited.
That's it! If you prefer filling out the forms yourself, even better. You can find a list of our transfer forms here along our custodians information. Your client can also submit a transfer request themselves using the CI Direct Investing app or website.
The relinquishing institution does not accept e-signed documents. What now?
If the relinquishing institution does not accept them, we will send only you the filled transfer form in PDF format. Please work with your client in getting these documents physically signed and scan the paperwork back to us. Please ensure that the scanned forms are legible in order for the relinquishing institution to process the transfer with minimal delays
